Graduate Teaching Assistants

Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) are graduate students employed on a temporary contract by the University in teaching-related responsibilities. The Department of Chemistry strives to deliver best teaching and learning experience in a professional and friendly environment and recognises TAs as an important and integral asset to the Department’s teaching activities.

All postgraduate students registered within the Department are considered to be available for appointment to GTA positions to work in the teaching laboratories. If a student wishes to be excused from consideration they require the support of their supervisor, whoc shold write to the Head of the relevant Section, with an explanation why they should be excluded.

Department of Chemistry- Objectives

Thursday 21st January, 1:45 – 2:15pm, in the floor 2 synthesis lab

“Hands On Practical Sessions” in the Synthesis Lab
For Year 1 synthesis lab GTAs: Monday 25th January, 10am – 4pm
For Year 2 synthesis lab GTAs: Tuesday 25th January, 10am – 4pm

Recruitment and Payment Procedure

Please follow process below
Detailed information

Step 1
Complete the Online Application Form (OAF)

Step2
ONLY IF selected, complete the Contract Requirement Form (CRF)

Step 3
Attend the TA surgery (details to be announced….)
You need to present- Your passport, VISA (if International), Bank details, P45 or P46

Step 4
Complete the PR14 Form EACH MONTH and submit before 4th of each month.
DTC/ CDT TAs should submit their timesheets with DTC/ CDT office in chemistry building.

Step 5
Notify TA Co-ordinator if do not get paid at end of month.
DO NOT wait until end of semester.
