Graduate Teaching Assistants

Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) are graduate students employed on a temporary contract by the University in teaching-related responsibilities. The Department of Chemistry strives to deliver best teaching and learning experience in a professional and friendly environment and recognises TAs as an important and integral asset to the Department’s teaching activities.

All postgraduate students registered within the Department are considered to be available for appointment to GTA positions to work in the teaching laboratories. If a student wishes to be excused from consideration they require the support of their supervisor, whoc shold write to the Head of the relevant Section, with an explanation why they should be excluded.

Department of Chemistry- Objectives

Athena SWAN is a project for the advancement and promotion of the careers of women in science, engineering and technology in higher education and research.

Students, Department and HR are required to work in effective collaboration to ensure timely recruitment and payment of Teaching Assistants.
